You all saw the clip in the film, Zimbabwe’s Forgotten Children where Obert and his friends spent hours trying to catch a small bird and then sat eating every delicate piece of meat he could get off its tiny bones. It had been his first bit of food for days.
We have received an extremely distressing report from the Headmaster of Obert’s old rural area school to say absenteeism is at an all-time high due to severe food shortages in the area. Children are weak or ill due to relentless suffering from hunger.
In January 2013 the school had a freak weather system come through which destroyed their agriculture plot and years of hard work. However this agriculture plot is an education tool and can only feed so many children, it is not enough to cover the majority.
For £30 you can pay a child’s school fees and help us expand their agriculture plot to feed more children. We are working together with the school to focus on this crisis for 2014 but we desperately need the funding from you, our devoted donors. We have worked so hard to reduce absenteeism to only 4% and give these children an education, but how can they absorb this without nutrition?
Obert is doing very well at boarding school and exceling in his subjects. We have high hopes for his future in being a part of helping his beloved community, but for now his friends are suffering in a way he knows so well and he finds this heart-breaking. Please help Obert’s friends, the way you helped him!
