This Christmas, give your friends and family the gift of education – a child’s education – in Zimbabwe, for a year.
For just £30, you can send a child to school in Zimbabwe for a whole year. For the price of a couple of paperback novels, you can teach a child to read at school for a year. For the cost of dinner with a friend, you can give a child the gift of companionship at school for a year. For the price of a cab ride there and back, you can launch a child on a journey of learning for life.
Northwest of the capital Harare, the countryside around Chinhoyi town is remote, forgotten by aid agencies and government alike. When we started in 2010, 90% of the children at Chinhoyi Rural School lining up for a place at the start of the year were turned away because their parents couldn’t afford the modest fee. Over the past six years, we’ve helped close on 2000 Chinhoyi children start or complete a primary school education there. Now, Chinhoyi Rural School is ranked 13 out of 100 in the district.
Our work is far from done. It relies on your generosity. Give a child the gift of education this Christmas. For each £30 gift you buy, we’ll post you OR the gift recipient, a Christmas card designed specifically for Zimbabwe’s Children. This year, in addition to Stephanie Caw’s Elephant card, we’ve added the Reindeer block print card, designed by 11-year-old Saffron Mitchell and her 8-year-old brother, Joel.
