{"id":1280,"date":"2018-02-13T17:55:02","date_gmt":"2018-02-13T17:55:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zimbabweschildren.org\/?p=1280"},"modified":"2018-02-13T17:55:02","modified_gmt":"2018-02-13T17:55:02","slug":"bridgets-story","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zimbabweschildren.org\/index.php\/bridgets-story\/","title":{"rendered":"Bridget&#8217;s story"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bridget lives with her mum and little brother (nicknamed Biggie) in a tin shack in a township just outside Harare.<\/p>\n<p>Bridget\u00a0and Biggie have excellent school reports!\u00a0 Their mother is very passionate about education and takes them to school herself every day.\u00a0 They were skinny, severely malnourished and\u00a0Bridget\u00a0has been extremely ill many times due to dehydration and starvation. However, she still insists on going to school and on many occasions her mother has carried her to school on her back.<\/p>\n<p>Since we have managed to support\u00a0Bridget\u00a0and her family with donations received which include healthcare, consistent payment of school fees at a better school and nutritious meals twice per day, their health has improved dramatically \u2013 they are now hopeful, feeling more energised, happier and healthier.\u00a0 Look how much Bridget and her brother have grown!<\/p>\n<p>Every rainy season Bridget&#8217;s mother has to rebuild their shack several times which brings much distress to them all.\u00a0 We are delighted to report that we have received funding from 3 very generous donors to build a small two room brick house for Bridget\u00a0and her family which cost US$3,000 (excluding the stand\/land).\u00a0 Through her hard work and her mother\u2019s dedication they will be a part of changing a destructive cycle for themselves and future generations.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to everyone who supports\u00a0Bridget\u00a0and the many children like her!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/zimbabweschildren.org\/?attachment_id=1281\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1281\" src=\"http:\/\/zimbabweschildren.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Bridget-October-2017-e1518544387126-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/zimbabweschildren.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Bridget-October-2017-e1518544387126-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/zimbabweschildren.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Bridget-October-2017-e1518544387126-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bridget lives with her mum and little brother (nicknamed Biggie) in a tin shack in a township just outside Harare.
