Zimbabwe's Forgotten Children

Twelve-year old Grace lives with her father Joseph and her sister Michelle.  They collect plastic and glass bottles from the rubbish dumps around Harare.  It can take them up to three days to gather enough to sell in the local market in the hope of raising the money they need to survive.

The girls’ mother left them 4 yrs ago and emigrated, so they have worked with their father ever since, not only foraging for bottles but carrying out all the housework as well. With barely enough money to feed themselves and none spare for school fees she now collects animal bones to sell to the sugar refining industry.

Grace is desperate to go to school and her dream is to work in a hairdressing salon.
